Matthew 6:24 “Jesus: No one can serve two masters. If you try, you will wind up loving the first master and hating the second, or vice versa. People try to serve both God and money—but you can’t. You must choose one or the other.” (VOICE)  The old versions, like KJV, say “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Mammon = riches)

If you can’t serve both, then you must choose.  Or as I often say, “You get to choose.”  Do you want to serve money and stuff, or do you want to serve the Creator and Ruler of the Universe?

Paul says, “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?”  Romans 6:16.  What that means is this:  If you choose money and stuff, you’ll be the slave of money and stuff; but if you choose obedience to God, you’ll get the righteousness of God, because of His Spirit residing within you.  Money and stuff leads to death; obedience to God leads to life.

What this is really about is CONTROL.  Who do you let control your life?  Do YOU want to control, or do you want GOD to control?  If you choose God, then He will supernaturally intervene in your life so that right now, you will have life, and you will have it more abundantly.

This is simple, but not easy.  If we were all in our ‘right’ mind, we could easily see the right answer, the truth.  Problem is, pretty often, we’re just not in our ‘right’ mind.  We are confused, distracted, angry, afraid, guilty, ashamed; unable to figure out what is going on.  We have eyes, but we can’t see; we have ears, but we can’t hear; we have minds, but we can’t understand. We are blinded to the truth.  What in the world can we do?

If you want to have real, true life, you have to surrender your life (your whole self) to Jesus, and let Him live His eternal life in you. You have to GIVE UP and LET GOD HAVE CONTROL of your life.  Are you ready? The rewards are incalculable.
