PRACTICING CHRISTIAN PART TWO.102115

Young christian woman turning pages of the Bible searching for promisesPracticing being a Christian is sorta like practicing to be a baseball player.  If you want to be a good baseball player, you do it every day; you focus your attention on it, you replay the game in you mind, you dream about making it to “The Bigs”.  But most of all, you stay focused on the fundamentals. The fundamentals in baseball are throw, catch and bat.  Being a Christian is a lot like that.  Practicing Christians do it every day too, they practice THE FUNDAMENTALS every  day; they 1] FOCUS ON GOD EVERY DAY; give Him some time and attention 2] SURRENDER to JESUS and MAKE HIM THE LORD OF THEIR LIFE (every day) 3] READ THE BIBLE and some Devotional 4] PRAY and MEDITATE on what they’ve read; 5] LISTEN FOR GOD to tell them what to do about it.

6] THEY SHARE THEIR LIVES And Knowledge With The Brothers And Sisters In 1 Prayer and share, 2 Bible studies, 3 Church and 4 Christian activities;

7] THEY “KBMT” for JESUS:  KNOW a disciple,   BE a disciple,   MAKE disciples, and TEACH others to make disciples; but most of all;

8] THEY TRUST GOD; ’cause He is still there taking care of them, no matter what it looks like!

In case you didn’t notice it the first time: MAKE JESUS THE LORD OF YOUR LIFE.  That means to surrender, to “Draw near to God and He’ll draw near to you.” (James 4:8) The first five (5) points in this list, taken together, are called your “quiet time“.  You may already be having a quiet time every day.  If not, please start now.  It’ll change your life.  You just can’t imagine how it’ll change you life until you start doing it.  You don’t have to do it at a certain time, but most of the practicing Christians I know or have read about think the right time is early in the morning, before you start your day, before you get your mind all filled up with a thousand other things besides God.  It’s never too late to start “seeking God with all your heart”.  Deuteronomy 4:29, says, “.  .  . you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him, if you seek Him with all your heart .  .  .”  PS: We’ll be covering each of the points above in some detail in the coming days.  For the time being, set your clocks 15 minutes earlier than usual and spend that time talking to God about who you are, and about Who He is.  (It’s OK to talk about what you need too, if you’re in some kind of a bind; I’ll be right there with you on that point. LOL)
