One day I was reading Luke 9:23, where it says, “If anyone would be my disciple, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me;” and I was thinking about what that means, “Take up your cross daily”. I heard a number of preachers and teachers say that it means 1 We all have our burdens (problems, troubles, sacrifices) to bear, and each of us has to trust God to bear those burdens in a Christ-like way. 2 Or some say your cross is whatever job or career or ‘calling’ God has called you to, and to be a disciple, you must focus your attention on doing that calling well and properly for the glory of God. The Prayer of Faith. 031315
“ . . the prayer of faith will heal the sick and the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” James 5:15
Who is a “righteous” person? A righteous person is one who has Jesus’s righteousness in him because he has surrendered his whole self to Jesus. Not my righteousness but Jesus’ righteousness is the only thing that is going to save me, the only thing that is going to make me holy, as God is holy. Continue reading
POWERFUL, EFFECTIVE PRAYER.031215
“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective”. James 5:16 NIV
Praying is an act of service. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Who is righteous? Anyone who has surrendered to Jesus and let His Spirit come to dwell in their heart. No one else is righteous in God’s eyes. If you want to have a powerful and effective prayer life, surrender your whole self to Jesus. “Deny yourself, take up your cross (that means “die to yourself” let Jesus live His Eternal Life in you!) daily, and follow Him.” (Luke 9:23) That’s the ONLY way to have a powerful effective prayer life.
Having Trouble? Pray. 031015
James 5:13 (ERV) says, “Are you having troubles? You should pray. . “
So first, if you are in trouble, pray. I’m sure you already know that every prayer is an act of faith, an act of trust in God.- It’s a service to God to ask for His help; even when you’re saying, “Help! Please! Right Now! I’ve tried everything else and nothing is working! Continue reading
LIVING WATER? 030815
In John 4:10-14, talking to the Samaritan woman, Jesus says, “You don’t know what God can give you. And you don’t know who I am, the one who asked you for a drink. If you knew, you would have asked me, and I would have given you living water.” The woman said, “Sir, where will you get that living water? . . 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. 14 But anyone who drinks the water I give will never be thirsty again. The water I give people will be like a spring flowing inside them. It will bring them eternal life.” Continue reading

UNFAITHFUL SERVANT. 030615
Matthew 25: 14-30: This passage is usually called the “Parable of the Talents”, but I call it the “Parable of the Unfaithful Servant”, because that is what the story is all about. Y’all know the story. Three servants (really slaves). Their master, referred to as ‘lord’ in the story, goes on a long trip. Before he leaves he calls his slaves in and says, “Slave 1, I’m giving you 10 talents; Slave 2, 5; Slave 3, 1. Y’all invest the money. See what you can make for me while I’m gone.” A talent of gold was several lifetimes of wages for the average man in those days. Estimates have it at $300,000.00 in today’s currency. (One talent) Continue reading

RIGHTEOUSNESS? 030415
Psalm 37: 39-40: “But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord. He is their strength in the time of trouble, and the Lord shall help them and deliver them. He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him.”
Who are the righteous? Most of my life I understood that the righteous are those who do right; who live up to God’s standards of behavior; people who don’t “drink or cuss or dance or chew, or ever run with them that do.” Continue reading
VINE and BRANCHES. JOHN 15.030115
John 15 1-3 “I am the Real Vine and my Father is the Farmer. He cuts off every branch of me that doesn’t bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. . . . 4 “Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you. In the same way that a branch can’t bear grapes by itself but only by being joined to the vine, you can’t bear fruit unless you are joined with Me. Continue reading
